I agree with the majority of you guys. This song is about how much in love Billie Joe was. It's that whole sensation of being able to hear her laugh and see her smile, regardless of where in the world she is. So in a way, it's really showing that long distance relationships can work if it's truly meant to be. Great song by a historical band, in my opinion.
