I feel this is a great way to express the way you view a good friend as almost like having this unbreakable, brother like bond. Just complete comfort, trust and lack of any sort of competition. I think the end has bit of longing for a time when they got to be around each other before other things started pulling them apart possibly. Theres a fondness about it though, like a warm memory.
