I think "car" is a metaphor. Shirley Manson didn't have a driver's license when this song was written. And seeing as many of her lyrics are either blatantly sexual or have an underlying sexual theme, I would say that's what this song is about. Just listen to the lyrics and the way it's sang - all seductive-like: "We can take it nice and slow, I'll be driving" - come on, totally sexual. Probably saying she'll be on top and in charge. "Leave the light on" - duh. Or maybe "car" isn't a metaphor, and she's just fantasizing about having a kinky screw in a car, and the "leave the light on" lyric is referring to the dome light.
