I mostly agree with you, but it seems like it was more than just a one night stand because of the lines "I got tired of it / day after day after day". I think there was more than one hookup, maybe to the point where they were almost in a relationship, but then he realizes he still wants to be free and tells her that it isn't going to happen at this point in time, although at a later time it could still work out.
