i think the song is about being in a shitty relationship be it a friendship or a romantic relationship. shitty because one person is always letting the other down and doesn't care about the relationship and is bored. the song seems like it is in the perspective of the person who is always a let down as he/she never answers the other's calls and is "sick and tired" which in effect makes the other one realise that their relationship is falling apart: "and all that call could do is make your fears come true". they dont want to face what is happening and thus the person sticks to him/her "like glue".
eventually the love the other has will die because they will relise and face up to the situation.
i think the song has a general feeling of depression aswell.
but like all placebo lyrics they fit into so many situations it could really mean anything
