Im not that sure about the song meaning but in my opinion it seems that its about getting out there and doing something that your really want to do in life, no matter what that decision may bring you. The chorus especially seems to be saying it, with the lines :

it seems to me when you listen to the verse's and then the chorus he seems like he saying that no matter what has happened he's glad he out there doing what he wants and that he's happy with his life for making that decision
