The first line has some pretty deep symbolism in it. the 5 days refers to pain and suffering and black and red refer to death and love. so death and love are colliding and it has caused pain and suffering. he has goten over the tragedy and is the first one to do so. the door refers to some sort of transition that he thought would be good but it didnt work out so well and this love he has might not last......
I actually think it has something to do with a car accident, from what 'five days after black and red collide' implies.
It's a gorgeous song.
It's been my favorite for years.
