I think this song is about insanity. It may seem far-fetched, but if you pay attention to it, you can see that you have an unreliable narrator, and what he really wants to do is be with the girl till he inevitably goes insane. He wants her to be with him even if he goes insane.

"Building castles in the sky" is referred to in a book by Dr. Henry Smith Williams. http://www.jstor.org/pss/25102393 It talks about paranoia and the effects of it. The narrator was obviously paranoid.

He is also either very possessive, or merely a romantic. He constantly refers to it just being "the two of us". Realistically, one cannot just be around with one person forever. One needs more human interaction than that.

"I hear the crystal raindrops fall On the window down the hall And it becomes the morning dew" Silly man. Dew doesn't form that way. The narrator apparently has a bit of stupid, or just Peter Pan Syndrome.

That's what I think.

@AlleyRiot Although this was written 11 years ago, this was the best thing I have ever seen. I don't know how anybody could dislike this. I agree whole heartedly, and it was hilarious. Thank you.
