Real Meaning

"It's these substandard motels on the (lalalalala) corner of 4th and Fremont Street. Appealing only because they are just that un-appealing Any practiced catholic would cross themselves upon entering. The rooms have a hint of asbestos and maybe just a dash of formaldehyde, And the habit of decomposing right before your very (lalalala) eyes. Along with the people inside"

The motels are substandard beacause it's the sort of place that condones prostitution.

"Inside, what a wonderful charicature of intimacy Tonight tenants range from: a lawyer and a virgin Accessorizing with a rosary tucked inside her lingerie She's getting a job at the firm come Monday."

The first chorus is a sarcastic rendition of sex nowadays. This particular night is different because the girl isn't a prostitute, but a young, catholic woman, a virgin, who has sex with her boss (the attorney) to get the job at the firm.

"The Mrs. will stay with the cheating attorney moonlighting aside, she really needs his money. Oh, wonderful charicature of intimacy.Yeah (Yeah) And not to mention, the constable, and his proposition, for that "virgin" Yes, the one the lawyer met with on "strictly business"as he said to the Mrs. Well, only hours before, after he had left, she was fixing her face in a compact. There was a terrible crash (There was a terrible crash) Between her and the badge She spilled her purse and her bag, and held a "purse" of a different kind. Along with the people inside What a wonderful charicature of intimacy Inside, what a wonderful charicature of intimacy

The wife knows about her husband's affair, unbeknowist to him. She just stays with him for the money. He simply tells her that the meetings withe woman are "strictly business". After the deed is done, she cleans herself up. "fixing her face in a compact is simply a metaphor for putting a face on: trying to forget what happened by putting make-up on, or by just covering up her problems, which is what she's doing. The constable (cop) raids the room, breaking down the door (there was a terrible crash". He makes a proposition in the booklet after "a purse of a different kind". It says: And here is where he entertains that proposition:arrested on posessionor (now if this were you) Think of what you wouldn't want to happen. They ended up... well, making love isn't exactly what I'm looking for. But. You. Get. The. Picture.

He gives her a choice. Either he arrests her for postession of the money the attorney gave her, or she has to sleep with him. She drops her things in shock, but she hold a different "purse" (a baby in the womb) "What a wonderful caricature of intimacy" refers to the conditions of how the baby was conceived.

"There are no raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses. It's sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses At the shade of the sheets and before all the stains And a few more of your least favorite things."

The second chorus: "the raindrops and roses" refer to when a girl bleeds when she loses her virginity and "girls in white dresses" symbolize a "pure" virgin.

I don't really want to go into the other stuff. The whole song is basically about how sex and intimacy are A carature, or joke, in present times.

My Interpretation

omg that makes more sense than anything anybody else has posted!

yeah that's a good analyzation, but it can go a lot more in depth with every lyric, a lot of things should be obvious that you didn't say like "sleeping with roaches" in reference to the type of people she has slept with and "shade of the sheets" is contradicting the "white dress"

Read my comment I mention that I've met Brendan and Spencer and asked them about this song. I didn't explain in excruciating detail...but your pretty much dead on in this interpretation, bravo!
