I love this song. My favorite parts are when it's all of them singing a capella "Aw but it don't get much dumber, it don't get much dumber than trying to forget a girl when you love her" and then at the end, the long instrumental part. When I listen to it, I feel like it's raining on a really calm day. So beautiful.
I feel like Damian had some sort of revelation with this record. His lyrics in the past have been pretty blunt and cynical. This album's lyrics are a little bit sweeter. Sounds like he or someone else in the band (Damian doesn't just write from his own experiences as far as I know) is really in love. I know they're all in relationships... But the songs. Sometimes they're really hopeful, sometimes they're really sad, sometimes just plain sexy. Like, we hear songs like "Last Leaf" and it's so cute and sweet but just a little bit sad. A longing feeling. But then we hear "WTF?" and IWYSBICB and they're downright sexy. This song I feel like is more straight up until the very end.
this song really resonates with me. I think it captures the feeling of being in love with someone who just doesn't feel the same in a way that is both direct and insightful. he feels like he won't be complete until he "gets" her, but at the same time he realizes the futility of this passion. Yet he can't change it.

Damian is (or was) going through a divorce at the time. The track "Lyrics" on the OTBCOTS Extra Nice Edition is really quite helpful.
