This song really describes what im going through right now. im not completely sure what it means, but im going to take a shot at it. He was in a relationship which recently ended, and its still painful for him, he hasnt completely gotten over it. He's trying to move on, but he isnt sure if he has completely recovered yet. Where i differ from the other peoples interpretations is that not only is he talking about wondering if he is ready for a new relationship, but he is wondering if he can still be friends with his ex. He wants to be friends with her, but he's afraid that it will send him right back to the start and he'll never be able to fully recover and move on.

This line seems really important. i think he's saying that once he's repaired and has moved on, he will be friends with his ex. He isnt completely shutting her out, you never really lose your love for someone... you just transfer it.
