I've always kind of interpreted this song as a dream, or at least something of that nature. The beginning of the song mentions the sun melting in the horizon, indicating nightfall. Also, the part about him being in bed waiting for her. After this, the woman comes into the picture and is gone when the sun rises. So, if it were a dream, the sun rising would mean that it is time for him to wake up (as is mentioned) and it would take away his time with the woman, causing him to hate the morning. Whether or not that is the intended meaning of the song, I honestly don't know. This is just how I see it. Truly beautiful words and music; probably my number one song.
