I've always felt the lines "Come see/be the devil baby" was purposely ambiguous. On one hand you can choose to hear it literally, as a baby that is a devil or the offspring of a devil, just another of the freaks. On the other hand, it may refer to you if you allow yourself to attend and revel in these "freak shows", that is "come be the devil, baby".
