Oddly enough, I interpreted it less of a song of conquering suicidal emotions, but more of a person with a terminal illness who wants to make the world a better place before they depart from it. I think the title 'Pale' is what led me to that conclusion, because the stereotypical sign of illness is a pallor complexion.
The world seem not the same
Though I know nothing has changed
It's all my state of mind
I can't leave it all behind
I have to stand up to be stronger
((Alteration of perceptions when one knows they are about to die and that there's nothing they can do to stop it. The speaker realizes that although their fate is sealed, they are not dead yet, and that they can still incite change in the world.))
Chorus:
I have to try to break free
From the thoughts in my mind
Use the time that I have
I can't say goodbye
Have to make it right
((Using the time that they have left to live, not spending the rest of it dwelling on their own mortality.))
Have to fight, cause I know
In the end it's worthwile
That the pain that I feel slowly fades away
It will be alright
((They want to make some people happy before they die. The pain slowly fades, away as their death approaches, reassuring their pained loved ones that 'It will be alright.'))
I know, should realise
Time is precious, it is worthwile
Despite how I feel inside
Have to trust it will be alright
Have to stand up to be stronger
((Again, the speaker affirms that they want to make the most out of the small time they have left to live.))
Oh, this night is too long
I have no strenght to go on
No more pain, I'm floating away
Through the mist I see the face
Of an angel, who calls my name
I remember, you're the reason I have to stay
((I'd imagine that this scene is the person starting to pass away, and they know that their time has come. The pain is slowly fading away, and they feel their spirit detaching themselves from its body. However, they remember the person they love most, and they try to hold on a little longer just to see them again.))
