Well this is my interpretation...
The 1st part of the symphony hes doing those humanitys questions as "what are we doing here" And he´s asking that to God.
the 2nd part, he´s looking for an answer from God, a salvation, (here we check the title "cross" as the cristian symbol of salvation), asking Him, what we should do to, what does He want us to do.
The 3th part, as a sign of "redention", he´s demanding God an new chance to fix what we´ve done wrong and admiting He´s the one who can save us now...
