although i understand how it could be about max (and it probably is)i also like the whole notion of the song for once not being about a relationship. it can be a friend song in a broad sense not just about max.
also the song has this feel, as if the singer feels as if he has done him wrong in some way, it sounds like a bit of an apology (maybe a sorry for not being able to hold him up? )
i really dislike the way the last line is sung though...sounds off.
