Much like "Buck up, they're coming," this guy looks around him and sees God's blessing around him. But this time, instead of living in it and appreciating it, he's afraid of losing it. He's afraid that God will bring another storm in his life, disrupt his comfort. This kind of pessimism sucks out the life from him.
But the hope of God and what He can do stirs him. Even when all he sees around him is darkness, he doesn't live by this sight but by the faith in the hope that is in Jesus. He knows that God loves him and will draw him back to Him.
