I guess it's about someone who probably doesn't really believe in love or at least not in all that "sentimental crap" but who is in love nevertheless, although the person would not admit it, not even to herself. But the speaker is in love with this person and knows that she loves her, too and even though she's giving her a hard time ("hard-hearted")she doesn't give up ("ready for a fight"). The person is a little nervous that maybe she (the speaker) is right and she really loves her (the speaker).
Does anyone know the TV series Queer As Folk? This song always reminds me of Brian and Justin. Brian who always says he does't believe in love and never admits what he feels for Justin and Justin, who is that persistend little kid that (almost) never gives up although Brian pushes him away all the time.
