"New Pony" is a great song musically and lyrically and is an integral part of the albums' story. I have Dylan's entire catalogue and I am obviously not the typical Dylan fan. There are people who just like his acoustic folk music. Most gravitatate towards his Greatest Hits and are not at all interested in his catalogue of diverse albums. These are not true Bob Dylan fans. Are you a real Bob Dylan fan? If you are, I am very confused as to your comments on "New Pony". I have never heard negative comments about this song by Dylan fans before. If you prefer songs like "Knocking On Heaven's Door" and "Forever Young", it makes sense and all is fine. If not, I am officially a Rainy Day Fan 12 and 35.
The original Dylan version is awful. i love Dylan but it was like he didn''t try.
Jack loved the lyrics and thought it would be good from a female perspective.
He was right. Another example of Jack making a cover better than the original.
