"The Disillusionist" could be about a lot of things, but like a mosaic, Damiera's music can't be looked at too closely or the lyrics start lose their meaning. Looking at these words on the screen, it almost seems overbearing and confusing. But when I listen to the song I think of someone who is re-examining his past and realizing that maybe things didn't work out the way he wanted, and that just a slight adjustment of his angle on life could have rectified his situation. Maybe with a love that he let slip away, but who knows?
For Damiera's songs, it's important to just let the words wash over you and not over-analyze it. The lyrics are just as frenetic as the music and you might drive yourself crazy.
Aside from that, The Disillusionist is one of my favorite songs, and it seems like just a b-side (if that) to Damiera. Too bad!
