He screwed up a relationship with this girl he really loves because he didn't love himself and know himself, and until he figured out his life she knew they couldn't work. He says hes gonna change for her, he'd do whatever it takes. The hopelessness in his voice though almost makes me think he doubts himself. He really truly loves her though and doesn't want to hurt her, though he understands why she left. He realizes he's a mess, but he needs her, and he knows he'll fall apart if she's not in his life.
