What I gather is that he has done something, hence "I saw blood, hold my tongue" then he says "I'll keep you number one" ??
then he goes onto say how he wants her not to hold him, but to hold him strongly? doesn't make sense, seems as if he is confused about what he feels.
But something that does make sense is in the chorus how he explains that without her he will only shake and become weak and that's why he is scared, scared of being alone. but again ruined by "I'll be your blunt machete" which could mean that he will only hack the relationship apart brutally rather than slicing it in two with one clean swipe
