I really see it both ways... I think it could be about either if you really look at the lyrics unless there's been a definite answer from the person who wrote it.. and "why would you really want to live forever" could refer to life after death in heaven or something like that.. and the fact that he mentions faith is compelling to believe the religious angle and he talks about meeting your maker.. which refers to death in general but could also be talking about the supposed maker god
