I think the quote, "This is the strangest life I've ever known." means you can perceive life in so many ways. I don't really know how he meant it though. This is why its such a well known and mysterious quote. It can be contemplated in so many different ways, because there are so many ways to understand life. and one of the worlds most common ways is religion. People are fine with believing that that's what existence all boils down to, a higher power. And that's why people are so faithful to religion. They seek guidance and are certain in their minds that by following a Creed of some kind, they will eventually find it. I choose not to believe in religion, because I enjoy thinking about the mystery of my existence, I am not ready and probably will never want to think of life in one way.

Some people assume that when he said this, he was talking about experimentation with drugs, mainly Hallucinogens. Some think he meant that by tripping, or doing drugs, you can alter your state of mind, and temporarily exist in another life. It seems to be a popular way of thinking, or maybe an alternative to believing in a religion.

I, however, think Morrison was not thinking about one way of analyzing life. He was thinking way far out, over the whole spectrum of contemplating life. This quote makes you think, that's what is so unique about it. it's only a few words, but one could elaborate on it forever.
