My favorite song from one of my all time fav bands. The music blows me away every time. Lyrically, it's pure poetry. After reading through it I got a sense of what he's trying to say so here's what I've come up with:
A promiscuous man sets his sights on a woman he's uncontrollably drawn to. But she's like him, just fucking around, and after getting with her, she drops him and moves on, breaking his heart. The lyric "Dormant desires which are better kept clandestine" is how he's feeling, wishing he had never let his desire for her be known because now he has to carry the sting of rejection forever.
There's two versions of this song, get the one off Dead Sea Scrolls, it's brilliant.
