The chorus is the difference between the industry and the band. How can they, record companies, offer so much, seem to be so great? (That's how I take the 'feet up off the ground' line) The steal sound line would seem to come from an exec forcing a change on how the band originally looked/sounded. All this while keeping their ears below the ground, so they're literally missing what's actually happening.
Well, to all of this, there's a harsh reply of 'Take a look around, look what I've found' which I always took as a cast off of the band/industry interplay in rest of the song to say 'Here we are, we're not like what you're used to'
