my trouble with it, is that "Why can't you see me through his eyes? / It's too bad you're making me decide" seems to be about forcing a choice between "you" and "him" if "you" is a guy then it makes sense that she'd have to choose between "you" guy and "him" guy. if "you" is herself, however, then i'm not sure how that fits. why would it be "too bad" that she'd have to "decide" to let go of her poor self-esteem...

That was my interpretation of it also, I heard a bunch of girls being all "omg that's so like my ex!!!!11!", etc. But I applied it to myself and hey, it worked. =/
