It's a great song about getting out of a bad relationship, or a heartache from a breakup that's lasted way too long. He knows that it'll be hard and lonely to let go of the girl (or the ghost of their relationship), but he's optimistic because he's anticipating the GOOD love that is, well, on the way.

is one of the lines I love in this song. I think it means that you're sick of trying to 'mend' other people, and help them with their relationships while at the same time forgetting about your own. So its time to start working on yourself. This time you're the broken person. I dont know it makes sense to me.
