For instance, this song talks about everything being better in the morning, not knowing what to do with your life (4th stanza when his says, "You can rest or you can try" as if to say you can waste your life or you can do something with it.) "trying not to solve this" must be trying not to solve the mystery of life, just living life is enough. A lot of his songs have a message like that. An example of this is the song "Car". The simple take on life that Doug has is definitely a motif in his songs.
