The lyrics booklet that came with my CD says the line is
"But that was 11 years ago
and she's much closer than you know"
But that sounds seriously wrong. I always thought it was either,
"And now she's buried in the snow"
Or something like "And now she's married in the snow".
If it was the married one,I think the song would take on the meaning of childhood friends, grown up & the one has just gotten married. After the wedding, the other friend reminisces and wishes it could be just the two of them again, like when they were children, because now her friend has her own family to care for & spend time with, she feels alone.
