This issue about whether ed has "gone religious," and is talking mostly about god in this song, is extremely important. It would be devastating, in my mind, to see his art become subjugated by religion. That would radically change the song's meaning. But that's not what's going on: if you look at the lyrics, "just breathe," clearly only humans breathe -- not gods. So, the song must be speaking to, about, directed toward a lover, a person, with whom ed can breathe. Breathe is the centerpiece for this song, and God does NOT breathe.

This is not Christian rock. It's about people. The other side could mean seeing someone, anyone, in the afterlife....and there are all kinds of religions, by the way, that espouse that.

I understand the point that you are trying to make but consider...

There is a posibility that this song "could" be about God.
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God (the Son) DID live & DID breathe - just like you & me.

Just because someone finds God does not mean they are a religous freak...

And also just because somebody writes a song about God does not mean it's christian rock. There are many emotions in this world and I believe people find christ at different points in life.

I know for me it was after some dark periods and I feel like this song kind of relates to that..

And btw there are lots of different religons but there is only one truth
