Hyper-inducing drugs to try to brainwash people and make them believe whatever. The Mass suicide that took place there was also believed to be an extermination caused by the CIA. And speaking of the CIA, Jim Jones, the leader of the People's Temple, was believed to have been working with the CIA.
The docter the head project MK Ultra was Sidney Gottlieb (an interesting read). He'd inject barbituates in one arm and simultaneously inject amephetamines in the patients other arm. He was also behind several assassination attempts made by the CIA.
