Great explanation by ftyd24 and interpretation by ShellyBelly93. I love every song on ‘Memento Mori’, but this is one of my favorites.
With regards to the journal entry in the booklet that comes with the album, this song is also a call to those who walk in sin and death to see the truth and turn towards God. Those who walk in the dark are thirsty for God, for truth. It sounds like Lacey is saying that she was in the dark and is warning others to step into the light like she did and not drag anyone into the dark. While one is living on earth, there is a chasm between Earth and Hell. If one dies in the darkness, the chasm will be fixed (sealed), the person will go to Hell, and there will be no escaping it. The life-giving water (Jesus, truth, etc.) can save a person and quench his/her thirst.
