Umbrella (Christ Mix) Lyrics

I like how on the line 'dipped me in his blood' on the second chorus it kinda sounds like 'dipped me in rhiannas blood', like the singer of 'Umbrella'

I think the point of this song is that Coffey feels like God is an Umbrella. The Rhianna's version she says, 'There's room for you under my Umbrella-ella-ella'. In this version, this seems like the sort of thing God might say - there's room for you beneath this protection.

The problem is Rhianna's song is a love song. Human love and Gods love are very different. Coffey's implied metaphor of God as an umbrella, is misconceived. Not only does he struggle to fit in his lyrics 'he didnt die forever', his conception of God particularly gripping. God isn't a shelter, a yellow umbrella with a bendy handle. He's a storm. pulling umbrellas inside out. The Christian discourse says that we can't hide from his love.

The lord felt your pain Put a fist in the air If you ready for change

What's with the violence Coffey? It was Judas who wanted to fight the Romans to defend the Isreal. Jesus taught love, that all (wo)men are brothers and sisters.

The race is not given To the swift or to the strong You got to endure it

This sort of 'grin and bare it attitude' makes for a heavy religion, with weight on ones shoulder how can we rise to the kingdom of heaven.

I'm being critical...I actually think this song is well funny. Long live Xian covers of pop songs!!!
