To me this song is about casual sex; this woman is meeting up with this guy at a hotel for obvious reasons. Except, she regrets it. She really thought this guy was something special. He's very sexy and obviously seductive & of course she fell for it. Turns out, she made a mistake because he really is JUST in it for the sex. So, perhaps she feels kind of lame for falling so easily for such a seductive guy.
OR
could be based on just another failed relationship, but the song doesn't imply this so much.
I think this song is about a woman who fell for a guy because he was cute and hooked up with him even though she suspected he might be a player.

"You were like one of those guys
The kind with a wandering eye
But I said, 'hey what the hell, once in my life I'll take a ride on the wild side'
You were so full of yourself
But damn, were you cute, as well"

They hook up and sometime later she realizes that he's married.

"How blind a girl can be
To miss you hide your ring"...
"How blind a girl can be
To miss you hide your ring"
The song implies that they hooked up for a long time before she realized he was married, and that she regrets what happened between them.
"And all the mistakes
That went on for too long
Wish there was a way
I could delete it"
So basically my interpretation of this song is this: a woman falls in love with a guy and later realizes that he's married and as such, she has no future with him. She's upset but is positive about choosing better relationships in the future:
"But I'm sure that this is nothing but a phase
'Right back at ya,' cause I'll survive"
I agree but actually she realizes he's married before they hooked up, she just pretends he didn't see him when he hid his ring. The spanish version of the song is a lot clearer though.
