The sad thing is this song is very true, kids hide their secrets because they feel ashamed and they go unheard of until they take their lives. I think this verse "When they are exposed and everyone else knows We'll say we never knew it, that they had a problem 'Cause if we would have known, we surely would have solved it" means that they never knew what was happening until something like suicide happens and by then it was too late to do anything.
