I think the song is about you loving someone so much that you know is better if you just let him go.. You know it doesn't work and that it would be best for both of you that you just go your own way. You want the best for him and you know that means you have to seperate. 'Cause you will only break his heart and let him down.. And it is better that it ends before it happens.
