This song is very personal to the boys, as its about ex-bass player Paul Taite..
"You left when the light began to fade, When all that surrounds you turns to grey" - In the last few months that Paul had been active in the band, he had lost interest in the direction of Goodnight nurse.. which is sad.. but sadly true.
"You let go of what you had at the start" - Paulo was their from the very early beginnings of GNN & was prized by the other two members as he was a great performer.
"Everybody knew that it had to end
When the fire died out and you couldn't pretend" - In the last few months Paul was in & out of appearances, gigs, etc.. being 'replaced' by Sam McCarthy(current guitarist). and it really was an uncertainty at the time of what was going on with Paul. Was he still in the band? had he left? were very re-occuring questions asked regaurding the band at this time. It was obvious that Paul wasn't feeling it anymore, but for quite some time he was 'still' in the band, but he wasn't at the same time..
