I didn't really think it was a mess. I've read so many opinions on forums and everyone says this and Fossil Genera were the worst songs they've ever made.

Although, the breakdown is the most memorable part in the song for me, I think in each album they focus on different things.

Alaska, they focused on vocals a whole lot and also guitar (Selkies) Colors they focused on mainly guitar (White Walls, Ants of the Sky, Prequel to the Sequel) along with bass (Viridian)

In this album, I hear a lot of great things from the bass and the drums. The drum solo in this song is sick and if you listen to the bass really hard in this and in Fossil, they're both extremely technical.

I still don't know which album I like more, but BTBAM never disappoints me (sorry I don't have a meaning to the song but the first comment seems to sum it up well.)

i agree w/ you, they did seem to finally focus more on blake's drumming, but i also think they really paid attention to guitars on this album too. i was surprised paul and dustie switched from ibanez to PRS, but they do have great tones, i just miss how they had a more metal sound on colors. did you really read fossil genera is one of their worst songs? i think it's my fave on the new album.

I agree with mast0d0n. The musicianship on this album is great for every instrument and i personally like the sound of an ibanez, but i feel like Paul Reed's have more of that BTBAM feel especially they way they have been going with Colors and now this. And I also think fossil genera is my favorite song on the album. At first i was a little bummed at how they are starting to sound (the silent circus is still my favorite album) but i'm really starting to appreciate the technicality of everything involved on these past two...

lukeryan hit the nail on the head. theres oldschool fans who dont like to see them becoming more progressive and less hardcore/death metal. i usually love progressive anything so this is a step in a great direction if you ask me. not to say i don't like the old stuff but all music evolves, you can look at bands that have been around for decades (rush comes to mind) and the early albums still have the same feeling while being totally different. i hope btbam is still for that long and i look forward to what direction...
