I'm unsure about this song. On the one hand, it does obviously sound like he's talking about a relationship, but knowing how metaphorical Slug is, I've started to think that he's actually talking about rap music and that the woman whom he refers to is actually the success that he craves (or craved) in the rap industry and/or life. It's the chorus that has had me going with this theory, just the whole idea of him being at the bottom of the ladder, with success being at the top, and he's so far down that he can see up "her" dress.
