I believe this song is about 2 people falling deeper into drug addiction. Particularly heroin.

Good morning dear, I think im losing it Can't find my way and I'm, I'm getting used to it Sun refuses to shine on this side of the street I'm not recognizing anyone I meet Trying to hide in the shadow of the sun [But] your not fooling anyone

this verse doesnt really have any drug references, just the general feeling someone has when in the depths of an addiction (which blows cock i might add)

Oh, acetone Won't you ever leave me alone Oh, acetone Oh, acetone

Basically this part is just saying, will i ever be free from you? (the drugs)

Look at me and answer truthful now did you drink that last spoonful down She drinks from the bitter cup I'm trying to get her to give it up Oh lord what have we become We're not foolin' anyone

This is the part that really convinces me its about drug addiction (heroin). Did you drink that last spoonful down? part, heroin is often cooked in a spoon when preparing it (not always, but for black tar heroin, which is the type in seattle, where mudhoney are from) Also, heroin has a bitter taste.

My feet are dragging down on this dusty old road My throat is dry and I'm all alone I remember when we walked side by side When I was parched I would drink in your sight I never meant to make you run I never meant to hurt anyone

Same old feeling of hopelessness in these verses, another drug reference (in my opinion) in the line "When i was parched i would drink in your sight" meaning, when he needed his drugs, he would do them in front of whoever the song was written talking to. The next part is talking about how that may have scared the person away from them, because the average person doesn't see somebody shoot up heroin in front of them really ever... This is just my interpretation though, and i believe it may be right. I don't think mark arm wrote it about himself, because i've never heard about him having a heroin problem. But, being part of the whole seattle music thing, a lot of his close friends did. (he was friends with people like kurt cobain, layne staley ect..) So he could have wrote it about one of his friends that were in a disfunctional relationship with a significant other.
