My personal interpretation...
I hear this song as a conversation between God and Adam & Eve or, more broadly, the human race.
God is saying I'll carry you through your trials and remember you when things are good (I think of you all the time, not just when you ask for me).
Man says... when we started it was innocent (perfect) until we lost sight of right & wrong.
Then they say... Until we meet again (Jesus returns) until it's like it was (in the beginning when it was innocent), until the answers start raining down (the truth is revealed), until the skies open up and the trumpet sounds (this is a biblical reference of Revelation 11:15-19... the trumpet sounds for his return and the heaven's open)... the rest is basically no more division, no more questioning, eternity is here.
perfect i love how you've interpreted this. i also see the part about something happening when we are are stuck where we don't belong, lost sight of whats right and wrong as a spiritual encounter with God when we least expect it. we were all innocent in the beginning, then we traversed off the path down the slippery slope, but he cares enough to save us & carry us through the hurricane waters

That's my take.
