this song is NOT completely about the breakup. imo, its about God and how we think we feel him/ see him in our lives, but we're aren't completely sure.
he relates it to shannon at the end of the second verse...
"Where to begin
Well I wanted to say it was you
Because I swore you had your hand in this too"
i think its about how he thought God wanted their relationship but eventually realized he didnt.
as a whole, i interpret the song as being about having doubts about God and his presence in our lives. the chorus is God saying "if you believe me" you have to put aside everything else and you'll experience God in a way you havent before.
the bridge confuses me. it could be God always knowing what we're thinking and how that could be difficult to deal with. or it could be about the girl.. thoughts? anyone agree?
I know a lot of Relient K songs are about God, but I'm pretty sure this isn't one. I don't see how you could be a "parasite on God's mind". That doesn't really make sense for me.

Hop off your god-forsaken high horse. This is Relient K's best music on all accounts and it's the first to lack the blatant christian morals their previous albums possessed. Religion blows dick and art still cursed by such horrible evil is simply unforgivable.

I believe some of the lyrics are about god and some about the break up. Like how you look for god in everyday things like statues and love and things.

true that!

he could be saying it from God's point of view, as in God always knows our thoughts even when we dont want him to
