This is a good one, and like most UM songs, the lyrics are not very specific. I take it as they are referring to an old friend who is no longer the same friend the band used to know. He has lost sight of his dreams, his drive, and his will power. When lightning hits (a challenge or obstacle in life), you turn and run --> the challenge is ignored and nothing is gained. I think they are referring to the idea that taking risks will lead to happiness, and who ever they are talking about in this song has lost sight of that. Sometimes i think they might be talking about a government or a person of power and then other times it seems like a friend or family member. What do yall think?
