I think this is one of the nicest songs on Maxwell's newest album. To me, it highlights his artistry not just his ability to perform. The vocals are natural and easy, the instrumental components have a purity and simplicity that I immediately loved. Seeing him perform it live was incredible especially since the entire band was really gifted even though his vocals were a bit strained. You can feel the yearning, the raw desire for her to just open up and share what she's feeling whether it's good or bad. You know the times when one of you would rather risk starting World War 3 than letting such a big issue go. One of those relationships where you really want to be with that person, but something happens and you know it's the beginning of the end. The other person keeps at it but you just let it ride. You don't discuss it and really your mind is made up that it's over between you. The poor guy never gets to plead his case or express how he really feels. It's not even a real break up because there's no discussion and you start to distance yourself until he stops calling.
