This song makes a direct statement about those who feel the need to protect women from their own desires- in this case, the desire to be seen as attractive. The alternation between "slut-shaming" and assigning a victim status to women who dare to act in an overtly sexual manner is seen among both social conservatives and radical feminists*- indeed, I've seen a number of instances where radfems have silenced women (particularly sex workers) who disagree with the doctrine of objectification = victimization. The power inherent in self-determination WRT sexuality is pointed out, as is the insulting nature of assuming that someone needs a shield.
*Not saying all radfems are like this, just that there are some rather vocal radfems who do hold this position.
