i'm wondering if this song has anything to do with her experiences in the band honey is cool. there is a song called something above the mountains that has the lyrics "there is something above the mountains/ there is something that i can't see" so clearly that is a reference to that song. i think they broke up or went on an extended hiatus so it could maybe just be about getting over the break up and growing up and realizing some of her views have changed since then.
at any rate i really like how she alludes to lyrics in other songs she has performed.
