Savannah Lyrics

This song fits into my theory that the album is about the death of a loved one. Here, savannah is an image for heaven. After the loneliness and pain of separation (Sahara, another song), they'll finally meet up again in paradise. "Who would've thought the book that you bought / Would never come off the shelf" suggests a premature death to me. "I searched for all these years and now you're right here" is what he'll feel when he'll finally meet her again.

My Interpretation

Jamnastic - Good theory, but this album's about his breakup. The lead singer, Matthew Thiessen was engaged but it was later called off. It talks about Savannah, GA, where his girlfriend lived in. In this song, he's decribing the memories of all the feelings he felt when he was with her. Such a deep nostalgia and beautiful song. His lyrics are so deep that my sympathy for him was to the point I teared up.

Yeah man the "aznwaffle123" dude is right. I'm an 8th grader and I was first wondering if the Savannah was a grassland, then I thought it could be metaphoric for his ex's name (Savannah as in someone's name). Lesson 30.4 (The southern colonies) in my Am. history book explains otherwise xD
