Against the Stream Lyrics

The interpretation of 'not in cycles, but in lines' keeps bugging me, that's what i think now:

Life, the river, flows down, and once it reached it's end, it stays there. Many people think of life as a circle, as maybe being reborn. This song might contain a contradiction to this attitude, by saying, it's not a cycle, it's a line, that begins, and ends.

This interpretation is (imo) confirmed by 'from existence into oblivion' as well as 'contending with time' (since time will end for you).

I hope that makes any sense.

PS: Also, great literary metaphor of total rock bottom: And down we go again... into the ocean of sorrow towards the sea of despair

My Interpretation

Well thought out man, that does make sense.. i mis read, i thought it was "circles" not "cycles" my bad :P
