My guess is that this person was unfaithful to his woman and because he believed he had everything, he didn't appreciate her and went astray. Just like everything else, easy come and easy go, but without his realization later finding that she actually meant something to him. He was empty and now he's feeling remorse and begging her to have a heart and take him back or stop being cold to him the way he was to her...and I also believe he could be married to her with kids cause he mentioned not wanting a broken home.
Ridin' high, when I was king
Played it hard and fast, cause I had everything
Walked away, wonderin' then
But easy come and easy go
And it would end
An empty shell
I used to be
Shadow of my life
Was hangin' over me
A broken man
But I don't know
Won't even stand the devils chance
To win my soul
There is nothing to suggest that he was unfaithful. "Why feel for da need to replace me? Ya on a runway track from the good" I think she just left him and he's beggin for her back.

@leaveit2chance I totally agree. This is a lover's lament song begging their partner to come back because they hurt them and they left. It's possible for someone to cheat, then regret it, and try to apologize and beg them not to leave and really realize the magnitude of the situation they created, especially when you take the original song by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons into account. That is most definitely what I feel this song is about. I think some of the lyrics aren't written here properly for the Madcon version as well, particularly this verse:

An...
An empty shell I used to be (meaning he was hollow and heartless to her)
Shadow of my life was hangin' over me (he's living with the things he's done)
A broken man that I don't know (he doesn't even recognize himself anymore)
Won't even stand a devil's dance to win my soul (but now he won't cheat anymore to fill his empty soul - he's proving to her it won't happen again)
What we doin'? What we chasin'?
Why da bottom? Why da basement?
Why we got good shit, don't embrace it?
Why the feel for the need to replacement? (Why do we as humans always feel a need to look for something better or think we can constantly do better rather than appreciate what we have while we have it)
You're on a wrong way track from the good (he still believes he is what's best for her)
I only painted a picture, anywhere we could be at (he's trying to show her how good it could still be between them if they can get past it)
Like the heart in the best way should
You done gave it away, ya had it 'til ya took it back (he wants to win her heart back)
But I keep walkin' on, keep open doors (he keeps trying to find a way back in)
Keep hopin' for, th-that the call is yours (he's waiting on her call to come back)
Keep browsin' halls 'cause I don't wanna live in a broken home
Girl I'm beggin' (he's sorry and trying to do everything he can to make amends because he recognizes he loves only her)
